Having this year made the mistake of seeking medical advice at specialist or GP level, can confirm it's not over yet. Masks remain imposed at surgeries, and quite nastily too. In fact it's worse, in that it's more stupid than ever!
Thank you, Paul, for this excellent, albeit it unpleasant, stroll down memory lane. And thank you for being one of the best voices that helped keep us sane throughout this shitstorm.
Exactly- great summary of this mad episode in our history. It would be hard to believe it were happened unless we lived through it. It seems surreal now - and to consider what most people accepted and tolerated under the tyranny imposed from above was truly depressing. All of us who lived through this must be utterly changed in our view of government, our so called democracy, the power of propaganda and the role and rights of citizens. If this period in our national and international history has not profoundly changed and awakened you nothing will.
Great article Paul but your anger should be directed at those who control our politicians. It's no wonder we and other countries have such a D list bunch in politics as no decent person could consent to be told what to do and say by faceless corporate entities. Whenever large amounts of taxpayer money are funneled into private hands via government you know it's a scam and ultimately all roads lead to the likes of Blackrock.
Wonderful essay Paul. Your rage is palpable and mirrors mine and that of many others. Your writing will be an important record, one day. One day.
Thanks Paul. Excellent summation of so much destruction of our way of life. They did it so easily it’s hard to believe sometimes.
Many people are forgetting or don’t care enough. We need to remember or we’ll let them do it all again. Well done!

Our present, past and probably future situation is what the military term " a clusterfuck" - Multiple simultaneous foul ups.
There is little recognition of this state of affairs in the corridors of power and very little among the general population.
Unless problems are recognized and described there is no hope for solutions.
Perhaps you are too kind, referring to 'simultaneous foul ups' I would label them differently.

We must not forget. I have a new name for the former female premier of Queensland- my husband said that she reminded him of Miss Piggy-
Funny that Jillian, I recently saw the same resemblance a few days ago, seeing her on television. She looked quite bloated.
Great writing as usual Paul, and as you point out, it behoves us all to never forget.

Quite a rant, love it. Succinct and on target.
I would give Mc Clown runner up. He wouldn't let me buy a beer!
