We stand at an inflection point, at which we see political violence against those with the ‘wrong views’ teetering on the brink of becoming normalised. At such a time, it bears remembering we have been here before, on many occasions. This may not help us prevent it. But by remaining attuned to what motivates those who engage in it, and reflecting on how politicised compassion can blind people to the consequences of cruelty, we can at least avoid falling down that same precipice ourselves.

Well done Paul, but you omitted the need for each of these worthy initiatives to be sustainable. Just a thought. This should be extended to a rather novel concept “ whole of government sustainable budgeting and accountability project”, although our betters might be a bit lost around the meaning of budget and accountability.

This is a quite ridiculous development. So LGBT etc ... is a religion now? Haven’t these folk got the government by their proverbial shirt and curlies already? Don’t they already rule? It is us Christians who are in the firing line or anyone that refuses to participate in the fantasy.
