This week past, thousands of private jets flew into the heart of darkness. This version plays out, not in the steamy jungles of Belgian Congo (or late 70s Cambodia), but on a snowy Swiss hillside called Davos. Complete with caviar and hookers. This is the controligarchy (as Seamus Bruner calls it) at play.

John Leake of Courageous Discourse, a substack account he shares with Peter McCullough, draws us back to Joseph Conrad:
The following passage is from Conrad’s Heart of Darkness, in which a character reflects on a pamphlet that Kurtz (the head of an ivory trading station in the Belgian Congo) wrote for The International Society for the Suppression of Savage Customs:
It [the pamphlet] gave me the notion of an exotic Immensity ruled by an august Benevolence. It made me tingle with enthusiasm. This was the unbounded power of eloquence—of words—of burning noble words. There were no practical hints to interrupt the magic current of phrases, unless a kind of note at the foot of the last page, scrawled evidently much later, in an unsteady hand, may be regarded as the exposition of a method. It was very simple, and at the end of that moving appeal to every altruistic sentiment it blazed at you, luminous and terrifying, like a flash of lightning in a serene sky: ‘Exterminate all the brutes!’
The final line expresses Kurtz’s disintegration from physical and mental illness, resulting in a fit of irritation and loss of patience.
One might see parallels between the trajectory of the fictional Kurtz and that of the World Economic Forum and corporatist capitalism generally, from benevolence of sorts to hubris, then to madness and evil. Like Kurtz, the ruling elites have gone rogue (as the Wikipedia writer of the Kurtz entry styles his decline).

Leake continues:
Thirteen years after Heart of Darkness was published, Thomas Mann started work on his novel The Magic Mountain, which tells the story of Hans Castorp (from a well-to-do family in Hamburg) visiting his cousin Joachim at a sanatorium in Davos, Switzerland. The residents of the sanatorium constitute a microcosm of Europe on the eve of World War I.
A recurring observation in the novel is that—even though Europe is enjoying a period of great prosperity at the time—its societies seem to be pervaded by a loaded aggression, irritation, and readiness to be angry. A funny scene occurs when a young student who is a resident of the sanatorium flips out when he is served what he perceives to be cold tea in the dining hall …
Two things are noteworthy from the Mann reference. First, now the whole of Davos is a globalist sanatorium, full of loonies. At least for one week each year. Who knows what the locals are like? Second, again, we face an era of loaded aggression, just as it was a century ago. Last time, it led to the killing fields of northern France.
Could it be that the rulers are getting a little nervous?
The controligarchy probably senses there is a bit of aggro building among the plebs. Loaded aggression, you might say. We might even vote for a few deplorables in this, the year of elections. Well, the Davos annual tourists are, this year, branding their confab “rebuilding trust”. As substack writer Jordan Schachtel has remarked, rebuilding trust through increased censorship and surveillance. At what he termed “another gathering of the ghouls”. (Conrad and Thomas Mann could have had some fun with this lot).
Schachtel caught the big point:
“Rebuilding Trust” was the theme of the conference, but nobody admitted to any wrongdoing.
Oops. The lack of trust we feel towards our betters is, I suspect, in their view, our fault. Schachtel’s highlights package revealed the following nuggets:
The 2024 program was one for the ages. Attendees watched Pfizer’s Albert Bourla talk about his company’s embrace of Artificial Intelligence (AI). They saw depopulation advocate Bill “Bugman” Gates advancing the climate hoax. John Kerry appeared on four different stages to discuss the “energy transition.” We also saw Klaus Schwab sit down for a 1 on 1 with the second highest ranking Chinese government official.
In none of these panels did anyone show any bit of regret for their decisions. Unsurprisingly, none of the catastrophic “errors” made during the Covid hysteria era never came up. Some devised even more authoritarian solutions for the “problems” that humanity faces. Gates, for his part, said he was working on vaccine patches so that uptake for shoddy pharmaceuticals will be even higher next time around.
To the WEF crowd, “Rebuilding Trust” often meant doing a better job to silence people by filtering out what they deemed “misinformation” and “disinformation.” In short, the problem isn’t them, it’s the people who are in the way. In order to rebuild trust, they want independent platforms like this one to be out of the way, through invasive surveillance and censorship measures.
Rebel News was there:
Rebel’s Ezra Levant and Avi Yemeni were a two man wrecking crew. Although they were unsurprisingly not granted credentials to cover the closed-door, invite only conference, they did a brilliant job conducting street interviews that held the malthusian anti-humans accountable.
Argentina’s liberty-focused, anti-Francis new President, Javier Milei, was there, in their faces, spruiking freedom.
(The Pope, naturally, sent his best wishes to the globo-cap tyrants in the snow; he was too busy to attend in person, perhaps giving blessings to homosexual couples back in Rome). The head of America’s Heritage Foundation, Kevin Roberts, a bastion of the conservative establishment, also attended, spoke truth-to-power and got in their faces with a few home truths.
There was an Australian there, speaking to the true believers. Her name is Julie Inman-Grant, and, along with Jane Halton, she is probably Australia’s most dangerous female. (Yes, I realise that Airbus Albo’s Cabinet is full of sisters doin’ it for themselves). Inman-Grant is to the censorship industrial complex as Halton is to the global medical industrial complex. Inman-Grant is Australia’s eSafety Commissioner. Yes, we have one. The very first in the world, as its progenitor, the former Senator Mitch Fifield, one of the stars of the then, globalist Turnbull Government, proudly remarked in 2016 when he appointed Ms Inman-Grant to her totally unnecessary and ultimately dangerous job.
She will be in charge of surveilling and restricting online speech once Canberra signs off on the so-called 1984 bill. (“Online safety” is simply Orwellian newspeak).
This is one of the key planks of the medical tyranny’s ecosystem. It isn’t a coincidence that Inman-Grant’s agenda for Australian online regulation exactly matches that of the Davos elites. She has already sought to fine Elon Musk for crimes against needless censorship. She worked for Microsoft for seventeen years, and had job titles that included words like “global outreach”. In other words, a Big Tech middle manager who didn’t and doesn’t know the finite limits of Big Tech’s wisdom nor its application. Tech industry specialists in agitprop are in equal measure hubristic and clueless on matters beyond their very, very narrow brief. You read Wired and know everything. Inman-Grant was perfect for the job.

Her strategy is one for the ages. Create a moral panic out of nothing, and then set out to solve the non-existent problem. Online safety must be addressed! We have seen the same game plan with climate change and with pandemics. Define a problem. Create a narrative. Craft a “solution”. Build the policy infrastructure. Make it indestructible and beyond the capacity of any future government to dismantle. This is the Tony Blair strategy. Co-opt “science”. Then forever circle the narrative wagons. Isolate dissidents and define them as mad, ignorant, evil. Rinse, repeat.
Inman-Grant and her brothers-in-arms in Davos believe that mis-and dis-information are currently the world’s biggest problems (or say they do). Not the risk of nuclear ar. Not the Middle East conflagration. Not the ongoing Chinese global infiltration. Not Muslim terror. Not creeping Western tyranny and the eclipse of liberal democracy. Not chaotic, out-of-control mass immigration. Not global fiscal incontinence. Not pandemic planning running amok. Not, well, people like her.
She is actually right about the threat of mis-and dis-information, by the way. Unintentionally. What she gets wrong is her identification of the perpetrators. The redoubtable Canadian Andrew Lawton has been on the case, having caught up with her in Davos:
When people at the World Economic Forum talk about freedom of expression, it isn't favourable. One Davos regular, Australian eSafety Commissioner Julie Inman Grant previously said we need to "recalibrate" freedom of expression. True North's @AndrewLawton caught up with her on on the streets of Davos to ask her what she meant – she was clear that free speech needs to be balanced against other things, like people's feelings of safety on the internet.
https://twitter.com/TrueNorthCentre/status/1748112484911722761
Oh yes, Julie is a free speech recalibrator. She wants what Jacinda Ardern wanted. The Covid State to be the sole source of information, the provider of approved narratives. Anyone else will be shut down. Just like the former Liberal Government of Scott Morrison had his bureaucrats employ fact checkers to shut down Covid dissidents. I am not sure what all this has to do with children’s online safety. It is a classic case of administrative creep. And chillingly, she attends Davos with the full support of His Majesty’s Government. No doubt, His Majesty would be simpatico.
Let us leave the last word to “Smith”, a reader at Jordan Schachtel’s The Dossier:
At this point, everybody knows the game is up. The WEF is still pushing its agenda that the majority of the earth does not want.
Let us all hope so. I don’t know that the Men of Davos know this yet. They are intent on rebuilding tyranny, Swiss style, after the post-Covid respite. After the great Davos re-grouping.
Two early markers will tell us much. The first will be the fate of outsider parties and candidates at all those elections of 2024. The second, far bigger test will come with the release of Disease X. Will the people flip the bird at the State on masks, vaccines, distancing, lockdowns and the rest? Or will we all cower again against what will be a far better organised and better armed totalitarian world order, run by the likes of Jane Halton and Julie Inman-Grant?
If the latter, this will be total victory for the architects of the Great Reset. With apologies to Joseph Conrad and Francis Ford Coppola, one would be justified in concluding, in exasperation and torment, at what we have allowed to happen on our global watch:
The horror! The horror!
Paul Collits

The Davos clown show is just the very tip of the totalitarian movement. To halt this movement there must be mass resistance. How to move the masses is the problem.
It is for the common good. The horror indeed
